Job Description

Distilled SCH is the combined business of Irish owned Distilled Media Group and Adevinta Media Group from Oslo. Together we command leading positions in real estate, motors and general buy and sell with our hugely popular online marketplaces Daft.ie, DoneDeal.ie and Adverts.ie.


We are looking to recruit a Senior Software Engineer to join one of our Daft development teams. The successful candidate must have 5 years of similar experience, a passion for building great software and will thrive in a fun, fast paced and challenging environment. You will have the opportunity to work with the latest technologies and help build some of the most well-known and visited websites in the country. You’ll get to use your experience to develop our engineering process, influence decisions when building new features and ensure the scalability and availability of the platforms.

You’ll be part of one of our cross functional delivery teams and work closely with product owners, quality engineers and like minded software engineers. We encourage everyone for their input and rely on people’s experience to further improve our process and products.

What will I be doing

Software Engineers at Distilled SCH build the core services to support our different products, websites and apps. We strive to use the best technologies for a job and are continuously upgrading our technology stack.

Here’s just some of the things you’ll work on:

  • Build and maintain features and products for Daft.
  • Ensure the codebase is clean, scalable and secure.
  • Work with other like minded developers as part of an agile team.
  • Work with our product, quality and site reliability teams.

Company Description

  • 5 years experience in a similar role.
  • Excellent knowledge of Java and Object Oriented design principles.
  • Experience and understanding of MVC, IoC and ORM frameworks.
  • Good working knowledge of databases such as PostgreSQL or MongoDB.
  • Experience building RESTful APIs.
  • Be a self-starter with an analytical mindset who is comfortable working on their own initiative and handling their time effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal, teamwork and collaboration skills.
  • A degree or masters in Computer Science/Engineering or a related field.
  • A passion for technology and a hunger to adopt new industry trends.

Additional Skills:

  • Experience using Spring, ElasticSearch, AWS, Docker and container orchestration systems such as Kubernetes or OpenShift.
  • Experience using Jenkins for CI/CD.
  • Experience building microservices and working with messaging queues.
  • Experience of Prometheus / Grafana for monitoring/alarming of services.
  • Experience working with Javascript, CSS or HTML are a bonus.
