You will be joining an amazing cross-functional squad (product team) that works very closely with the different marketplaces to understand and define how to better connect buyers and sellers and close deals.
The Messaging team owns the software and infrastructure that sends over 8 million messages every day and serves millions of customers worldwide. Up to 12 marketplaces globally use our infrastructure and integrate their applications using our SDKs to enable chat on their websites. Our team is formed by more than 30 professionals divided into 3 different squads from different areas such as UX, Product, Data, and Tech that work together to develop top-of-the-line software products. Our solution includes the most advanced features to provide the best experience to our marketplaces’ users.
What you’ll do:
We are looking for an experienced Senior Engineering Manager for our Messaging team in Barcelona, with a proven track record leading big teams of seasoned engineers and managing complex deliveries with multiple dependencies and stakeholders.
Set the team vision and provide support with high-level tech decisions and technical architecture.
Work closely with the team’s stakeholders (Product, UX, Data, Agile Coaches) and the larger product organisation to ensure the team is building the right products.
Grow your team members and build a high-performing team, leading the hiring and on-boarding processes, and coaching each engineer on their career development.
Collect high-level strategy downstream to influence team objectives and short-term backlogs, as well as be the representative and advocate of the team upstream.
Build up a two-way feedback loop where the company, the squad and the individuals get mission and strategic alignment for a win-win situation.
Support the team setting the environment and agile processes to have access to all the knowledge, skills, and tools required to excel at work.
Be responsible for maintaining healthy team dynamics and keep the team output at high, measured levels of velocity, quality and reliability.
Manage the squad budgets, direct and indirect-costs
Who you are:
First and foremost a people person: assertive, empathetic, fair, honest and humble.
Experience in the software development lifecycle: agile, lean startup, scrum, kanban, OKR, etc.
Leadership: influencer, change driver, people and organisation developer, strategic thinker.
Technical skills: familiar with running distributed systems at scale and databases.
You have a deep understanding of how software is built and deployed.
You have very strong spoken and written English communication skills. Spanish is a plus.
You’re comfortable with participatory management and leading group sessions. Management 3.0 is a big plus.
You have a track record of holding a team accountable to goals and aligned with company-wide strategic priorities, while maintaining high levels of autonomy in your team.
