Job Description

We’re Adevinta, a global leader in digital marketplaces that reaches hundreds of millions of people each month through our household name brands across 16 countries. We’re all about matchmaking, and our sites help people find whatever they’re looking for in their local communities – whether it’s a car, an apartment, a sofa or a new job. Every connection made or item found makes a difference by creating a world where people share more and waste less.

Our brands are supported by global Tech Hubs in Paris, Berlin, Barcelona and Amsterdam. Their goal is to develop common global products and innovation platforms which all of our brands can use. This means using cutting edge technology to create highly scalable, customisable and secure products and components that free up development time and leverage our access to global data.

The team

The Storage team manages a vast number of Apache Kafka clusters for our marketplaces around the world. As part of the Data Highway area we play a key role in Adevinta’s Data Strategy. The data we collect is essential to our business as it feeds marketplaces with low-latency (“realtime”) updates, visitor insights analysis and targeted advertisement.

We solve exciting problems at scale by building technologies around Kafka, like APIs, monitoring and authentication systems, and gathering up to 900 million events per day while keeping users’ privacy and data security in mind. We also develop data services on top of our Kafka platform, providing capabilities like data catalog, lineage and IAM.

What you’ll do

As a Senior Backend Engineer in the Data Highway area, you’ll have the opportunity to build a critical, state-of-the-art data transport layer for Adevinta marketplaces for a variety of components, such as classification, insights and understanding and modeling user behavior.

If you like to be part of a flexible, senior, international engineering team that uses the latest technologies to move from ideas to production and operations, you might be the person we’re looking for. You’ll be part of a team that takes full ownership of the solutions we provide (you build it, you run it), meaning your impact can shape our  - and our customers’ - ways of working.
