Job Description

We’re Adevinta, a global leader in digital marketplaces. Our household name brands, including Marktplaats in the Netherlands, Mobile.de in Germany and Leboncoin in France, reach hundreds of millions of people every month across 16 countries.

We’re all about matchmaking, and our sites help people find whatever they’re looking for in their local communities – whether it’s a car, an apartment, a sofa or a new job. Every connection made or item found makes a difference by creating a world where people share more and waste less.

Global Tech Hubs in Barcelona, Amsterdam, Paris and Berlin support our brands. Their goal is to develop common global products and innovation platforms which our brands can use. This means using cutting edge technology to create scalable, customisable and secure products and components that free up development time and leverage our access to global data.

Qualifications

The Messaging team owns the software and infrastructure that sends over eight million messages every day and serves millions of customers worldwide. Up to 12 marketplaces globally use our infrastructure and integrate their applications using our SDKs to enable chat on their websites. With more than 30 people in the team, split into three squads from areas such as UX, Product, Data, and Tech, we work together to develop top-of-the-line software products and provide the best experience to our marketplaces’ users.

What you’ll do:

  • Work in a multi-disciplinary team and develop library code that can be used by many different marketplaces

  • Develop prototypes quickly but deliver production code that works well in established markets

  • Be involved in a full spectrum of mobile engineering including new features, libraries and tools to support experimentation, localisation and customisation

  • Develop and implement systems using best practices and tools, document and communicate them

  • Be creative and experiment with new solutions but also pragmatic and committed to code optimisation, maintainability and quality

  • Work closely with other teams (Stakeholders, Product and UX) to drive product development in an iterative and agile way

  • Drive discussions and contribute to technical decisions; striving for clean architecture and SOLID principles

Adevinta is an equal opportunity employer and we value diversity. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, colour, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status or disability status.

Flexibility: We believe that work is what you do, not where you do it. So we provide flexible hours and remote working options that give you the autonomy and scope to set your own agenda and working patterns. We empower our teams to decide which key moments they want to spend face to face, instead of mandating a fixed number of office days.
