Qualifications

Company offices are based in Vienna and London, but we are switching to a remote-first approach to working. We have been operating remotely since the pandemic started, but we do offer office space as well. We would prefer candidates from Vienna and London, but it is also fine if you live somewhere nearby and are ok with periodic visits to the office in Vienna for team events, meetups or conferences.

Purpose: 

You will be part of a small cross-functional team. As an Android developer, you will be working closely with the product manager, UX designer, and other engineers to develop features that are used by millions of users.

Team:

The cross-functional team is formed by several people. We have 4 backend engineers, 2 iOS engineers, 2 Android engineers and 2 web engineers. In the team, we also have a product manager and a product designer.

Speaking of the engineers, they are in a range from medior to senior, willing to share knowledge with you and help you onboard.

Tech Stack:

We use modern Android development tools and frameworks. All new features are implemented using Kotlin, RxJava, Dagger, and Retrofit over an MVVM architectural pattern. Also for new features we aim to have robust unit test coverage and UI tests for the main flows.

What You'll do:

  • Contribute to the health of our platform - make current product more robust

  • Contribute to the development of features while collaborating and aligning solutions with backend and iOS engineers

  • Continuously improve our existing Android codebase, using MVVM architectural pattern and the SOLID principles

  • Regularly assess and test new and emerging technologies to ensure the faster implementation of features

  • Share your experience with your team, teach, and learn

  • Bring in your ideas and be responsible for further development of Shpock - we have big plans!

  • Have at least 3 years of experience in professional native Android development 
  • Kotlin is a programming language that you're familiar with, but you do not mind a little bit of Java
  • You strive to write readable, testable, maintainable, performant code

  • App performance is not something you leave on the side
  • You have experience working with some of following tools: MVVM, Dagger, Room, OkHttp, Retrofit

Additional Information

We offer an attractive salary for this position based on your qualifications and experience. Austrian law requires us to post a minimum salary for this position, which is € 45.000,- gross per year (for a full-time job). We are willing to pay more based on the experience. We will treat your application in strict confidence!
